BIOGRAPHY:
From the acclaimed songwriting troubadour David Dondero comes Simple Love, the follow up to his critically lauded 2005 release, South of the South. Few songwriters have experienced and expressed the sinking depths and uplifting optimism of humanity like David Dondero, and his ability to shine a light on the human condition (his own included) is inspiring. Dondero is best known for his narrative tales of America. Having spent most of his life on the road, Dave uses his staggering lyrical talent to paint tales of life in the US of A through clever word play and sarcastic humor (as represented in the album title) about some of life’s most sensitive subjects. Simple Love is a poignant collection of songs woven with sentimentality, contempt, humor, and lust.

PRESS:
“One of the greatest living songwriters” – NPR – All Songs Considered host - Robin Hilton

“One of the best singer/songwriters I’ve ever heard.”- NPR - All Songs Considered host - Bob Boilen

“an all-American troubadour. Simple Love full of road-weary Americana. Songs that document that love is anything but simple. Funny stories full of sarcasm, contempt at times and sentimentality. Lots of ups and down.” – My Old Kentucky Blog

“It’s easy to like Simple Love… Dondero’s detailed descriptions are still the best thing about him. He’s able to evoke a complete experiential landscape: suicide bridges, dark, cool churches, muddy rivers.” 7.0 - Pitchfork

“Wilmington, NC man David Dondero is not your average singer/songwriter. He has a magi-like gift for intertwining great storytelling with super catchy melodies that are not bo-ring.” - Usounds
