The lovely people over at Consequence of Sound have premiered a brand new Capgun Coup video for the song "When I'm Gone". Check it out here!

From Consequence of Sound:

"Turns out that the entire Tyler Chikenelli-directed three-minute video was done with pictures, creating a jerky stop motion-esque feel to the entire deal. The video, consisting mostly of performance shots and a few seconds of a band member getting intimate in a field of leaves in what we can only describe as a Snuggie, feels like a wonderfully amateur cartoon full of weird angles and lots of colors. Of course, the band’s sound suits that DIY sound. In a world of increasingly more prevalent surf punk, the band play the caffeine and Pixie Stick brand of the genre, complete with monotone singing and heavy on the vaguely Caribbean, mostly danceable keys. Seriously, we can’t say it enough: Check this out."

Supporting his celebrated debut 'Hustler's Son' on Team Love, Jason Boesel kicks off his first U.S. tour with Dawes and Cory Chisel And the Wandering Sons. On February 5, Boesel will take lead on guitar with Dawes onstage as his backing band on all the dates. See below for the full schedule.

Team Love is now giving away a download of Jason's insatiable jam "I Got The Reason #1" (click for MP3). The song originally surfaced during his touring days with Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band and quickly became a fan favorite. The album version features Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), Blake Mills, Jonathan Wilson, Nik Freitas.

Just last week, Boesel stepped up front for his first two shows in Los Angeles. The first was a Haiti benefit with Jenny Lewis and friends. The second was with Michael Runion and JJAMZ. David Rawlings was there to play back up with Boesel.

Simon Joyner is planning a few, short tours to support his new album Out Into the Snow. Instead of performing in the typical indie rock venues and bars, he would like to explore a more intimate setting for these shows—living rooms and art spaces around the country. The house (or art space) show removes the elevated stage that separates the performer from the audience. It removes the distracting noise from the bar and provides an environment that allows the music to be the main focus. Simon has always felt that house shows and D.I.Y. spaces are often the best places to perform but it hasn't been feasible to base a tour on this preference until now.

Jason Boesel has confirmed his first solo U.S. tour in support of his debut album ‘Hustler’s Son’- out January 12 on Team Love Records. Though he’s known for his trenchant drumming work with indie heavyweights Rilo Kiley and Conor Oberst, this tour finds Boesel trading in sticks for guitar and taking lead as frontman. Folk-rock group Dawes will join him onstage as his back-up band on all the dates. The tour kicks off February 5 in Boesel’s home state – California – and will take him cross-country to New York City and back, supporting the co-bill of Dawes and Cory Chisel And the Wandering Sons.

This morning, Daytrotter posted three unplugged versions of songs from ‘Hustler’s Son’ (two of which are premieres). Boesel, accompanied by Blake Mills on lead guitar, starts the set with “French Kissing,” a song he described to Daytrotter as a “discombobulated love jam,” followed by the eerie album opener “Black Waves.” Boesel finishes with a solo performance of “New World Mama,”

Perhaps it was those long drives on the road and the need to pick up and move that inspired Hollingsworth to strip down his music to the simplest of components: acoustic guitar and vocals with minimal accompaniment. Whatever the reason, Hollingsworth soon wrote and recorded Life With a Slow Ear, a beautiful and ragged record that plays like the words on a page of a great Southern novel. Life With a Slow Ear sounds like a dusty desert and the honest and direct lyrics feel like an old pair of leather boots. Like the best blues and folk singers, Hollingsworth’s music now, finally, just sounds like home.
