Lovers all- Hello! Craig Wedren here.
As I write I am working on the soundtrack for David Wain’s new movie (he directed the radbrilliant ‘Wet Hot American Summer,’ for which I also composed); it’s called ‘The Ten’ and will be in theaters on Aug.3. ‘The Ten’ is a rare and true piece of bent genius starring about a thousand awesome people including Paul Rudd, Winona Rider, Jessica Alba, and all members of the comedy group ‘The State.’ It’s completely unique and absurd

I also recently did the music for ‘Reno 911: Miami’ which just came out on DVD and is ridiculously hilarious. On it, I got to work with everything from a gigantic Hollywood orchestra to a teenaged rapper (Garcia Afro) from a Havana barrio. I’m very happy with the way it all came out. Rent, relax, watch and plz listen.
And, I just finished producing Amy Miles’ new album, ‘King Of Girls.’ it’s kind of a cross between Dolly Parton and Prince, and it is gorgeous and fun and smart and weird and heart breaking/ass shaking.
But most nearly and dearly, I’m working on my new album, WAND. So far I have a few hours worth of music that encompasses a lot of different sounds I like to make, from pop songs to elliptical, Shudder To Think-y stuff, to more orchestral and experimental soundtrack-like pieces, and a lot of raw, almost demo-y acoustic and a-capella songs. Looks schizoid on paper, but I think it hangs together quite nicely, actually. Feels so good so far. I’ll have it all recorded by Summer’s end, and then I’m going to turn it into a crazy movie. WAND.
